Outlook Training Day 16 – Forwarding in Outlook

 Forwarding in Outlook

Automatic forwarding is the feature in outlook which forwards each of your emails to the address that you have assigned. You can enable the forwarding of an email address but if you have the requirement to forward the email to more then one address then in that case you can simply create a rule which is explained in “Outlook Training Day 13”. Below are the steps on how to forward the email

On the settings (gear) click on “view all outlook settings”

“Forwarding” is available on the “Mail” tab.

Click on the Enable forwarding and enter the email address. In this demonstration I have enter my yahoo email address which will forward all the emails to be forwarded to yahoo.com.

If you choose “Keep a copy of forwarded messages” then a copy of email is forwarded to the email address and a copy is available on the inbox whereas if you do not select this option email will directly forward to the email address that you have assigned. Let’s proceed without selecting the option and click on “Save”.

Let’s see the result if the email is sent to the email address then it will forward or not.

Delivery failed; the email is not forwarded. It looks like the administrator has not given the permission to forward the email to external recipient.

Now let’s check what happens if we choose “Keep a copy of forwarded messages”.

Let’s see the result if we send the test email now.

Now, a copy of email is received to the recipient, but the email is not forwarded to the external email address.

Similar issue has been faced while applying forwarding rule to the external recipient. Please refer to “Outlook Training Day 13” for solution.
